The giant who came from Belgrade

Stefan Kapičić wasn't chasing worldwide fame when he auditioned in secret in 2015. The project had the codename of a minor production, but it turned out to be the piece that would relaunch adult superhero movies. Nearly six feet of height and a cavernous voice were his best tools for convincing producers that he was the ultimate Colossus.

He was born in Cologne in 1978 because his father was a leading figure in Yugoslav basketball who competed in the German league. That athletic heritage shaped the way he moved on stage and in front of the camera from the very beginning. He studied drama in Belgrade, where he learned that supporting characters often carry the weight of great stories.

Height can be a prison or a tool.

During his early years in Serbia, he took part in more than 80 classic theater productions. But the local market ran dry fast for someone with his look and international ambitions. So in 2013, he decided to try his luck in Los Angeles, never imagining he would end up voicing a steel-clad mutant in one of the most profitable franchises of the century.

The Making of a Metal Icon

His work on Deadpool in 2016 was not a simple dubbing session in a comfortable California studio. Kapičić had to repeat his lines in marathon eight-hour sessions so the Russian cadence would sound natural. And he did it while other specialists handled motion capture on the Vancouver set to sync his voice with the visual effects.

In the sequel released in 2018, his involvement was much greater during production. Director David Leitch trusted his ability to bring comedic nuance to a giant who just wants his teammates to behave. He earned a base salary that multiplied thanks to box office bonuses after the film surpassed 700 million dollars in worldwide grosses.

And the bet on raw humor paid off.

Outside the comic book universe, his career has followed an enviable path of technical precision. In 2018, he played Casper in the series Better Call Saul and proved he could be menacing without relying on special effects. It was a short but intense shoot where he shared scenes with the construction crew of Gus Fring's underground lab.

The value of physical presence

His appearance in the animated series Love, Death & Robots during 2019 confirmed that his voice is an industry asset in Hollywood. In the episode The Secret War, he returned to his Slavic roots to bring to life a soldier fighting supernatural creatures in the forests of Siberia. It's a niche he dominates with a command that few European actors manage to sustain after their first big hit.

In 2024, he returned to his best-known role in Deadpool & Wolverine to close a chapter that has defined his professional maturity. The shoot was carried out under strict security measures to prevent leaks about the film's cameos. He signed a confidentiality agreement with multimillion-dollar penalty clauses before reading the first page of the final script in London.

The industry values loyalty as much as talent.

Kapičić divides his time between Belgrade and Los Angeles, depending on the production schedules of each season. He speaks five languages fluently, which allows him to work in European markets without relying exclusively on calls from the major studios. In 2025, his schedule focused on voice-over projects for high-budget video games produced in Eastern Europe.

The actor weighs 95 kilos and keeps a strength training routine five days a week.
