Invictus

South Africa has left apartheid behind, and Nelson Mandela has just taken office as president after years behind bars for his political activism. The country is burdened by poverty and crime that seem endless, and racial wounds remain open between the Black majority, which suffered oppression for decades, and the white minority, which views the new government with suspicion. Mandela wants to push a policy of reconciliation that unites both groups. His own party, however, resists many of the changes he proposes, especially those that aim to replace the customs inherited from the era of the National Party. Clint Eastwood directs the film, and Morgan Freeman brings the president to life in a story that begins in the first days of his term.
