An animated extravaganza full of melodies.

In Paris, in 1910, the cat Duchess lives with her three kittens, Marie, Berlioz and Toulouse, in the mansion of Madame Adelaide Bonfamille, an aristocrat and former opera singer. The cats lead a life of luxury, surrounded by art and music, just like their owner. The household staff is completed by the English butler Edgar Balthazar. When Edgar finds out that Madame Adelaide plans to leave her fortune to the cats in her will, he starts scheming to get rid of them so he can keep all the money. The film, directed by Wolfgang Reitherman, sets up a domestic conflict between a family of aristocratic cats and the man who wants to harm them. Phil Harris, Eva Gabor and Sterling Holloway voice some of the main characters.

Trivia about The Aristocats

In France, it was the most-watched film of 1971, with 12.7 million tickets sold.
The Sherman Brothers composed "Le Jazz Hot" for the show-stopping musical number, but the film used "Ev'rybody Wants to Be a Cat," by Floyd Huddleston and Al Rinker.
Louis Armstrong was initially cast as the voice of Scat Cat, but had to leave the project due to illness. Scatman Crothers was hired to imitate him.
Richard Sherman imitated Maurice Chevalier's voice on a demo of the title song, and that recording led the singer to come out of retirement to perform it.
