When the sun goes down, another world comes to life.

At the Port of Los Angeles, a gang of thieves hijacks a truck loaded with electronics. They do it from three heavily modified Honda Civics, which escape down the Terminal Island Freeway in the dead of night. Meanwhile, LAPD officer Brian O'Conner is assigned to go undercover in a joint special task force of the Los Angeles Police Department and the FBI. His mission is to track down those responsible for a series of truck hijackings. To do so, he must infiltrate the world of illegal street racing and conceal his true identity from the people who take part in it. Paul Walker plays the cop in this film directed by Rob Cohen.

Quotes by The Fast and the Furious

  • [After Brian talks about plans to date Mia] You break her heart, I'll break your neck.
  • [looks at women hitting on Dom] I smell [sniffs] skanks. Why don't you girls just pack it up before I leave tread marks on your face?
  • [Talking to Brian at Dom's garage] I live my life a quarter mile at a time. Nothing else matters: not the mortgage, not the store, not my team and all their bullshit. For those ten seconds or less, I'm free.
