Synopsis of The Minions of Midas

Víctor Genovés, heir to the Malvar Group, a major media company, has just published a corruption case that has made waves in the press. Shortly afterward, he receives a letter from a group calling itself "The Minions of Midas." They demand that he sell company shares worth 50 million euros and hand the money over to the group. If he refuses, a randomly chosen person will die at the time stated in the letter. The businessman is thus forced to choose between giving in to blackmail or putting strangers at risk. The miniseries, created by Mateo Gil and Miguel Barros, is set in Spain, stars Luis Tosar and Marta Belmonte, and streams on Netflix.

Trivia about The Minions of Midas

The series is based on the short story "The Minions of Midas" by American writer Jack London, although the text does not specify that it is a literal adaptation.

Luis Tosar shot much of the series with a knee injury and explained that production was split into two stretches, with a break over the holidays.

Guillermo Toledo returned to the screen with this series after roughly ten years away from Spanish cinema, a period the actor himself described as a ban.

The production received six nominations at the 2021 Iris Awards, including categories for best actor for Luis Tosar, directing, fiction, screenplay and production.

Guillermo Toledo was nominated for the 2021 Feroz Award for best supporting actor in a series for his performance in the production.

Netflix officially presented it as a closed six-episode miniseries, and no reliable announcement of a renewal, second season or spin-off appears in the sources consulted.
