Synopsis of The Pier

Alejandra is a successful architect in Valencia who has just won, together with her business partner, the contract for a skyscraper. Her life begins to unravel when Óscar, her husband of fifteen years, dies, and the loss leaves her devastated. Shortly afterward, she discovers that he had been leading a double life with another woman, Verónica, who lives in a village near the Albufera lagoon. Alejandra decides to approach her under a false identity to understand why her husband was living a lie and what happened the night he died. The two women do not know each other, but both want answers. The Movistar+ series was created by Álex Pina and Esther Martínez Lobato, and stars Verónica Sánchez, Irene Arcos and Álvaro Morte in the main cast.

Trivia about The Pier

Álvaro Morte signed on to the series in April 2018, and it was his first production after the worldwide success of Money Heist.

Before it was called The Pier, the series was presented as The Pier at MIPCOM in Cannes in 2018.

The 16 episodes of both seasons were filmed back to back over 2018 in the Albufera Natural Park in Valencia.

Verónica Sánchez joined the cast on May 22, 2018, after Valeria Alonso left the project for personal reasons.

During filming, Irene Arcos had to hold and fire a shotgun. Having had little contact with firearms, she believed it was real and felt afraid when she pulled the trigger.

The second season of «The Pier» ranked fourth among the most-watched series on Movistar+ in 2020 and found success in the United States, Latin America and several European countries.
