Synopsis of Boundless

In August 1519, the expedition led by Ferdinand Magellan sets sail from Seville bound for the Indies. At the helm is the Portuguese navigator Magellan, played by Rodrigo Santoro, a captain determined to venture into routes no one has ever traveled. Also on board is Juan Sebastián Elcano, a Spanish sailor played by Álvaro Morte. The two men are opposites who pursue the same goal. The crew, made up of hundreds of sailors, seeks riches, recognition, and fame on a voyage meant to open a previously unknown route. Written by Patxi Amezcua and broadcast on Amazon Prime Video and RTVE, the series opens with the departure and presents the journey as a challenge in which its leads' ambition collides with what the sea has in store for them.

Trivia about Boundless

The most significant historical liberty in the script is putting Magellan and Elcano on the same ship, something history never did.

Simon West decided that the characters would speak their native languages to add authenticity, instead of everyone speaking English with an accent.

Filming began in Olite, Navarre, on April 26, 2021. Additional scenes were shot at Azkorri beach in Getxo and in the Dominican Republic.

The series was initially announced with four episodes of 60 minutes and a budget of 5 million euros per episode, but it was later confirmed that it would have six episodes of 40 minutes.

German broadcaster ZDF distributes the series in the territories where Prime Video is not available.

«Limitless» received a nomination at the IMDb-tracked awards, although the profile does not specify the category or the festival in the search results consulted.
