Benigno, a nurse, and Marco, a mature writer, happen to attend a Pina Bausch performance at the Cafe Müller. On stage, two women with their eyes closed and arms outstretched move to "The Fairy Queen" by Henry Purcell. Marco is so moved that he bursts into tears. Benigno would like to tell him that the show moves him too, but he doesn't dare. Months later, the two men meet again at the private clinic "El Bosque" (The Village), where Benigno works. Lydia, Marco's girlfriend and a professional bullfighter, has suffered a goring and is in a coma. Benigno also cares for another woman in a coma: Alicia, a ballet student. The reunion between Marco and Benigno marks the beginning of an intense friendship. Inside the clinic, the lives of the four characters flow in every direction, past, present and future, pulling all four toward an unexpected destiny.
