A.J. Simmons doesn't chase media attention desperately. He prefers the quiet of rehearsals and the technical precision he learned at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London. He finished his training at that institution in 2013 and entered the industry with a clear idea of acting as a craft. That restraint opened the doors of the British industry for him.

His stage work gave him a solid foundation before he tried his luck in front of the camera. It wasn't a bed of roses, though. In his early years, he racked up small roles in productions that barely covered his rent in the English capital. British rigor tends to reward restraint over haste.

The big break came when major streaming platforms started producing in British territory. In 2022 he joined the cast of The Sandman for Netflix. It was a complex production with a budget that exceeded $ 15 million per episode in its first stage.

But the money was in quality television.

His role in Silo during 2023 allowed him to explore science fiction from a rawer perspective. The Apple TV+ series demanded considerable physical effort, and Simmons met the production team's expectations. On that shoot he shared the screen with heavyweights of the industry, and his name started to be heard in Los Angeles casting offices.

A.J. Simmons avoids social media and prefers to keep his private life under lock and key. He isn't interested in selling a star image but in being a working entertainer. In 2024, he joined the cast of Mary & George to play Sir John Beaumont. It's a period drama where costumes and etiquette dictate how the characters behave.

The market doesn't forgive blunders.

This series' production used more than 500 handmade costumes to recreate the court of James I. Simmons had to attend costume fitting sessions of four hours a day for three consecutive weeks before starting to shoot on historic locations in England.
