Alba Flores didn't start on a television set. Her training began at age thirteen at Juan Carlos Corazza's school because she wanted a technical foundation that went beyond her surname. Back then, the industry watched her closely as the daughter of Antonio Flores and granddaughter of Lola Flores. But she chose to build her own path on the stages of independent theater.
And the gamble paid off.
In 2015, Saray's character in Vis a Vis changed how the public saw her. She played an imprisoned Romani woman with a mix of violence and vulnerability that forced casting directors to see her in a new light. The series became a cult phenomenon before reaching global streaming platforms.
Then came 2017 and the premiere of Money Heist. The role of Nairobi gave her international exposure that few Spanish actors handle with such composure. Nearly six million followers on social media did not change her pace when it came to author-driven projects. Soon her name began to be heard in offices in Los Angeles while she kept rehearsing in industrial warehouses in Madrid.
Television was just the megaphone.
Despite the media noise, she never left the stage. In 2016, she starred in The Exception and the Rule by Bertolt Brecht with her own company. It's called La Extraña and it's where she channels her work as a producer and cultural manager. For Alba Flores, acting is a political and social tool that doesn't always fit into commercial circuits.
In 2021, she took part in Shock 2 (La Tormenta y la Guerra) at the Centro Dramático Nacional. The play examined the rise of neoliberalism and the armed conflicts of the 21st century. It was a demanding production that required absolute physical precision and a commitment to the text that kept her away from the industry's brightest spotlights.
It's not all about the glitz of the red carpet.
In 2023, she played Lole in the film Te estoy amando locamente. The movie tells the story of the birth of the LGBTQ+ movement in Seville in the 1970s. That same year, she appeared in the horror series Romancero, where she played Tábata in a very dark visual style. These are projects that aim to unsettle audiences or shed light on realities that often remain on the margins of conventional fiction.
While filming Ulises in 2024, the actress had to immerse herself in a science fiction narrative under the direction of Jorge Malpica. The production had an estimated budget of two million euros for its technical development.
