Ramiro Blas wasn't looking for fame when he arrived in Madrid in the mid-2000s. Before becoming an actor, he worked as an advertising executive in his native Argentina, and that professional background gave him a competitive edge (knowing how to sell himself without seeming to). His hard features and deep, gravelly voice closed some doors for him but opened wide the doors of casting offices looking for antagonists with real presence.
In 2006, he decided to cross the pond after taking part in the TV experiment Reality Reality in 2001. That experience back home was a necessary toll that taught him the camera doesn't forgive a lack of authenticity. Upon arriving in Spain, he went on to land supporting roles in productions such as Los hombres de Paco and El internado, where his physical presence already sealed his fate before he delivered his first line of dialogue.
The perfect villain is not born, he is trained.
And then Doctor Sandoval appeared. In 2015, the premiere of Vis a Vis was a seismic event in Spanish fiction thanks to its raw intensity and prison aesthetic. Blas played the doctor at Cruz del Sur with a coldness that made viewers uncomfortable. He made Sandoval the most hated character on television for several seasons. He didn't need to shout, because his menace lay in the silences and in a stare that seemed to dissect his victims.
Many actors would have been trapped in the role of the villainous doctor, but he chose to leap into independent production. In 2018, he shot Sin fin under the direction of the Alenda brothers. Here he showed that beneath that tough exterior lay a vulnerability the industry had barely explored. It was a smart move to avoid the typecasting that often follows supporting actors with such a strong look.
Sandoval changed everything.
But success didn't make him let his guard down. In 2021, he joined the cast of El internado: Las Cumbres, bringing back the aura of mystery he handles so well. Blas treats acting as hard, honest work, where the name in the credits matters less than the solidity of the scene. So he agreed to take part in genre projects such as Rec 4: Apocalipsis in 2014, bringing the physical realism that Spanish horror cinema demanded at the time.
Ramiro Blas's looks come before him.
In 2023, he once again showed his versatility under the direction of Javier Ambrossi and Javier Calvo in La Mesías. In this production, he played a celebrity who required absolute restraint. His work on the Movistar Plus+ series confirmed that his mature acting allows him to navigate auteur projects without losing an ounce of the raw intensity that made him famous with the general public.
The industry values his punctuality and his lack of ego on set. In 2024, he joined the cast of the series Galgos, where he plays Carrizo, a role that once again places him at the center of power and conflict. The shoot for this series took place in various locations in Madrid and Cantabria, on a budget that demanded maximum efficiency from its veteran actors.
His daily rate on top-tier productions is in line with the pay scales for special-category supporting actors in Spain.
