Candace Cameron was ten years old when she first walked onto the Tanners' living room set, a television set that would shape her public life over the next four decades. The year was 1987, and ABC was looking for a child's face to balance the comic chaos of three single men raising three girls. The character of D.J. Tanner was not the funniest on Full House, but she worked as the moral anchor the storyline needed to make sense.

The series ran for eight seasons.

During that time, the actress grew up in front of millions of viewers who analyzed her weight or hairstyle every Friday night. That San Francisco house ended up being her real professional school. But when filming wrapped in 1995, she decided that constant exposure in Hollywood was not an immediate priority for her future.

The Voluntary Retirement and the Ice

In 1996, she married professional ice hockey player Valeri Bure. It was a quick union that took her away from the Los Angeles spotlight so she could focus on raising her three children during nearly a decade of media silence. Many industry analysts believed her time on screen had ended for good.

It didn't turn out that way.

She returned with brief television appearances, but her real driving force for change was literature and faith. In 2011, she published her first book, titled Reshaping It All. In its pages, she detailed her personal struggles with bulimia and how religion helped her regain control of her life outside the studio.

The Factory of Perpetual Christmas

Her working relationship with Hallmark Channel began in 2008 with the movie Moonlight and Mistletoe. No one imagined at the time that this collaboration would lead to more than thirty original movies produced for the same channel. Candace understood before anyone else that a large part of the American audience was looking for wholesome stories with predictable happy endings.

In 2016, she revived her most famous role in Fuller House for Netflix. The company produced five seasons of this sequel, which directly appealed to viewers' nostalgia for the 1990s. But the most significant change in her business structure came in 2022.

That year, she broke her long-term contract with Hallmark to join Great American Family. It was more than a network change, because she took on an executive role to develop content based on her own conservative values. The decision stirred up buzz in the industry due to her statements about the traditional model of marriage in fiction.

In 2024, production company Candy Rock Entertainment was already managing multiple seasonal fiction projects and mystery series.

The contract signed with Great American Media in 2022 calls for a minimum of ten films a year under her direct supervision.
