Eden Riegel was born in 1981 in Washington, D.C., and before turning ten she was already performing on the Broadway stage in Les Misérables. There was no adjustment period or vocational doubt. Her entry into the industry was a head-on collision with the reality of the New York stage.
In 2000, she accepted the role of Bianca Montgomery on the daytime soap All My Children. It was a decision that defined her public career for a decade. The character was the daughter of the legendary Erica Kane, and her coming out caused an earthquake in American television.
That storyline broke audience barriers at a time when diversity in soap operas was nonexistent. But Riegel didn't just stick to the script. She won the Daytime Emmy in 2005 after several consecutive nominations and massive support from specialized critics.
She was the story.
In 2008, the writers' strike brought Hollywood to a complete halt. Riegel took advantage of the gap to self-produce Imaginary Bitches, a satirical web series she also starred in. She was one of the first traditional television actresses to understand that the future lay in streaming servers, not just in broadcast antennas.
The project earned an Emmy nomination for digital content. It was a cheap but effective experiment that allowed her to control her own storytelling far from the major studios. So she decided her voice was worth as much as her image in front of the camera.
And the change was permanent.
Around 2010, her on-screen presence declined to make way for a major career in video game and animation voice acting. In 2017, she voiced the characters Devola and Popola in Nier: Automata. This role gave her a different status within an industry that often overlooks live-action actors.
She lent her voice to Final Fantasy XV and the Dead or Alive series. But her technical ambition went beyond pure performance in front of the microphone. In recent years, she has preferred to take the reins of artistic direction.
In 2020, she worked as voice director on The Last of Us Part II. She was in charge of coordinating the motion capture sessions and the vocal performances of a complex cast. It's largely invisible work to the general public, yet it demands absolute technical precision in the recording studio.
Her sister is Tatiana S. Riegel, the regular editor on Craig Gillespie's films. Eden lives in Los Angeles with her husband and their two children. In 2023, she oversaw voice directing for several big-budget animated projects under strict confidentiality agreements.
