Jonathan Keltz was born in New York, but his career was forged during the winters of Toronto. He began studying acting at age ten. It wasn't a teenage whim. In 2009, he landed the role of Jake Steinberg in Entourage, and his life changed completely.
Playing Ari Gold's assistant on the HBO series demanded a verbal rhythm few actors his age could keep up with. Fifteen episodes of intensive learning about how real power works in the entertainment industry.
The series gave him international visibility.
But Hollywood tends to devour young actors who look good on screen. Keltz decided he didn't want to spend the rest of his career playing fictional coffee orders in Los Angeles offices. So he went looking for projects that demanded a different physical and emotional range.
In 2013, he joined the cast of Reign to bring Leith Bayard to life. What was initially a short story arc ended up spanning four full seasons. Audiences connected with his story of social climbing, and his role grew from supporting to a key piece of the show's dramatic machinery.
He filmed a total of 50 episodes until the series finale in 2017. That period taught him that stability in television is an illusion. While filming in Canada, he began planning his definitive move behind the camera.
Production became his main driving force.
In 2018, he founded Wildling Pictures with several partners. He wasn't after fame but complete control over the material he shot. In 2020, he released Acquainted, a film in which he starred and served as executive producer. It was a risky move to step away from the teen heartthrob image that had followed him since the beginning of his career.
Keltz quickly realized that the Canadian market offered tax advantages California couldn't match. In 2022 he starred in the thriller The Last Mark and appeared in Fit for Christmas. Mixing such opposite genres lets him keep his business structure intact without relying on the major American studios.
And the gamble paid off.
In 2024, he appeared in the series Wild Cards as Detective Holden. It's a role that taps into his more direct and cynical side. But his energy is now focused on financing other people's projects. His offices manage several horror and suspense scripts that will enter production in 2026 under his direct supervision.
The company closed its 2023 fiscal year with three completed feature films and guaranteed distribution on more than twelve European streaming platforms.
