Her Technical Training in Pittsburgh

Myha’la Herrold dropped her last name from her professional credits to simplify her artistic identity. She trained at the Carnegie Mellon School of Drama and finished her studies in 2018. That period in Pittsburgh gave her a rigorous technical foundation that she would later apply on the London sets.

In 2017, she joined the cast of The Book of Mormon during the U.S. tour. But the stage was not her final goal. Before moving into television, she worked steadily in musical theater.

Then the call came for a series about finance at the BBC.

The Heist in the Financial District

In 2020, she played Harper Stern for the first time in Industry. The character is a young American woman who lies about her university degree to get into a London investment bank. Critics praised her ability to convey coldness and ambition without falling into the caricature of the Wall Street shark.

Season one's production coincided with the start of the global health crisis. Filming was halted, and the actress had to wait months to see the results of her work on screen.

It marked the start of a period of high demand for her work.

That's because her performance caught the attention of independent studios in the United States. In 2022, she appeared in Bodies Bodies Bodies, a horror satire produced by A24. She shared the cast with Amandla Stenberg and Rachel Sennott at a mansion in New York.

Disaster Films and Box Office Numbers

In 2023, she shot Leave the World Behind under the direction of Sam Esmail. She played Ruth Scott and worked alongside Julia Roberts and Mahershala Ali. The film was based on Rumaan Alam's novel and explored the collapse of technology in a domestic setting.

That same year, she joined the cast of Dumb Money. The film told the real story of the GameStop stock frenzy and the financial chaos caused by internet users in 2021.

Myha'la prefers scripts with fast-paced dialogue.

In 2024, Industry premiered its third season with a considerably larger budget. Filming these episodes took six months of intensive work on location in the United Kingdom and Wales. The actress signed a contract that included specific clauses about the development of her character in future story arcs.
