Robbie Daymond was born in 1982 at a military base in Missouri, but his professional career has nothing military about it. He began his training in conventional theater and earned a degree in Fine Arts from the University of Nevada. Those stage years taught him that acting depends not only on the face but on the physical intention of the body.
Theater was her first school.
In 2014, his career changed when he landed the role of Tuxedo Mask in the English dub of Sailor Moon. It was not an easy process, because the pressure from the franchise's fans demanded absolute precision in every phoneme. But Daymond handled the tension with a natural ease that caught the attention of casting directors in Los Angeles.
Before reaching the big video games, he worked on smaller projects and commercial voiceovers that few people remember. In 2016, he voiced Prompto Argentum in Final Fantasy XV and discovered that the gaming community is far more intense than the traditional anime fandom.
Nearly 100 hours of recording were needed to complete the dialogue for that character.
And the gamble paid off.
That experience opened the doors of Atlus for him to play Goro Akechi in Persona 5 during the same 2016. Akechi is a complex celebrity who must shift from absolute calm to the most aggressive madness in a matter of seconds. So Daymond recorded those screaming sessions at the end of the day to avoid wrecking his vocal cords too soon.
But his work was not limited to reading other people's scripts. In 2021 he joined the Critical Role universe as Dorian Storm and proved that pure improvisation is his best weapon. He took part in 14 episodes of the third campaign and returned in 2024 to wrap up loose storylines on the series Bells Hells.
Unlike other actors who reject the technique, Daymond advocates using specific equipment to maintain quality when working remotely. During 2020, he turned a space in his home into a professional booth with high-density soundproofing. This allowed him to work on the animated series Spider-Man without leaving his residence.
In 2023, he took part in the production of Hi-Fi Rush, playing Chai. It was a major technical challenge because the dialogue had to fit the constant musical rhythm of the game. Zero margin for error in lip sync was the direct order from the development team in Japan.
Because modern dubbing is not just acting. It's pure sound engineering.
He keeps a strict routine of hydration and rest. He avoids coffee before long sessions because dryness in the throat causes mouth noises that ruin clean takes. In 2024 he lent his voice to Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League under a technical direction that demanded very deep registers.
That recording session lasted six hours straight and ended with a medical prescription of complete silence for two days to recover the tissue of the larynx.
