Stephanie Arcila

Stephanie Arcila grew up watching how fiction was made behind the scenes in Miami. Her father, actor and producer Jairo Arcila, was the role model she looked to before realizing that a career in Hollywood demanded a much tougher skin. But she didn't take the easy shortcut of relying on family connections.

Television rarely gives second chances.

In 2010 she landed her first small roles in productions such as Aurora and Pasiones prohibidas. Those were years of technical learning, where the goal was to understand how a professional film set worked. Because talent without discipline goes nowhere in an industry that chews up names every week.

The Risk of Penny Dreadful

Her chance to change direction came in 2020 with Penny Dreadful: City of Angels. Playing Bernadette Romero meant moving into a different league under the supervision of John Logan. There she had to handle a complex historical setting and a political weight that left no room for major mistakes.

And the gamble paid off.

In 2021 she made the leap to genre films with Don’t Breathe 2. Shooting in Serbia under the direction of Rodo Sayagues was a constant physical challenge that took her far from the comfort of California studios. The film grossed more than $47 million at the box office worldwide despite the health restrictions of the time.

Gabriela Pérez's Uniform

But the project that redefined her place in the industry was Fire Country in 2022. Her role as Gabriela Pérez required her to go through real physical training with professional firefighters to make her performance believable on screen. So she stopped being a supporting actress and began carrying the emotional weight of a major hit series.

But the change of pace was real.

In 2024, the series production confirmed its renewal for a third season after maintaining an average audience of 7 million viewers per episode on CBS. Filming moved to locations in Vancouver to take advantage of the area's tax incentives.
