Tamar Novas

Tamar Novás Pita (Santiago de Compostela, October 3, 1986) is a Spanish actor.

In 1998, director José Luis Cuerda discovered him while holding auditions at several schools in Santiago de Compostela.

The young actor's film career began with the role of Roque in The Flower of My Secret... no, in The Tongue of the Butterflies. Then came Alejandro Amenábar, who cast him as Javi in The Sea Inside, alongside Javier Bardem, Lola Dueñas, Mabel Rivera, Celso Bugallo and Belén Rueda. This is the moment when Tamar made his name in Spanish cinema: The Sea Inside earned him the Goya Award for Best New Actor. He also received the Actors' Union award. He later worked on the series 7 vidas and on the Galician series A vida por diante, a huge hit, while also appearing in the series La Sexta Mesa para cinco.

He shoots Los fantasmas de Goya (Miloš Forman, 2006) and, with Gerardo Herrero, Una mujer invisible, alongside María Bouzas. He works on series such as La Señora and Cuenta atrás.

It was with Broken Embraces, directed by Pedro Almodóvar, alongside actresses such as Penélope Cruz and Blanca Portillo, that Tamar Novas gained wide international recognition and became a young "Almodóvar boy."

In 2009, he joined the second season of the Telecinco series Acusados, which premiered in early 2010. He shares the spotlight with Blanca Portillo and José Coronado, among others. He also starred in the TV movie broadcast by Telecinco in 2009 (divided into 2 episodes), titled La Ira, a Daniel Calparsoro project featuring Marian Aguilera and Patricia Vico.

He made his stage debut in Comedia y Sueño, directed by Juan Carlos Corazza, a teacher, among others, of Javier Bardem. For this play, he was nominated by the Actors' Union for Best Supporting Actor in Theater in 2014.

In 2014, he also premieres at the CDN in the play El viaje a ninguna parte, directed by Carol López, to great critical and audience success.

He reunites with Juan Carlos Corazza for Hambre, locura y genio, based on texts by Strindberg. In this play, he not only acts but also composes and performs the original music.

That same year, she premieres Códice, a TV movie for TVG, and shoots The Beach of the Drowned (Gerardo Herrero), alongside Carmelo Gómez.

He currently has the series Apaches, for Antena 3, awaiting its premiere.
