Salamanca, July 1936. The rebel troops occupy the city and the Socialist mayor has just been arrested. The writer and philosopher Miguel de Unamuno, a highly respected figure, meets with two colleagues, the Protestant pastor Atilano Coco Martin and the leftist Salvador Vila Hernández, to discuss the coup. The conversation is brief. Unamuno is in a hurry, because he has an interview where he intends to publicly back the rebels, convinced that this will end the country's political chaos. His decision places him at the center of a conflict whose consequences are not yet clear. Alejandro Amenábar directs the film, and Karra Elejalde plays the author.
