He faces the final challenge. And fights for his life.

Rocky Balboa settles his debt with Apollo Creed and accepts a closed-door boxing match at the gym. The story then moves to 1985, when Ivan Drago, a Russian boxer and member of the Soviet Army, arrives in the United States from the Soviet Union. He is accompanied by his wife Ludmila, his trainers and his manager, Nicolai Koloff, who takes every opportunity to showcase Drago’s physical form as proof of Soviet superiority. Driven by patriotism and a desire to return to the ring, former heavyweight champion Apollo Creed challenges Drago to an exhibition fight. Sylvester Stallone directs the film, stars in it and also writes the screenplay.

Trivia about Rocky IV

Paulie’s robot was created by International Robotics Inc. in New York, and its original voice belonged to the company’s chief executive, Robert Doornick.
A blow from Dolph Lundgren to Stallone’s chest made his heart collide with his sternum and swell. Stallone spent eight days in intensive care.
“Gonna Fly Now,” Bill Conti’s best-known piece for the franchise, does not appear in the film at all, and it was the first time that had happened in the series.
Peter Cetera wrote his single “Glory of Love” as the closing theme for this film, but United Artists rejected it, and it ended up being used in The Karate Kid Part II.

Quotes by Rocky IV

  • We always have to be in the middle of the action 'cause we're the warriors. And without some challenge, without some damn war to fight then the warriors might as well be dead, Stallion. Now I'm asking you - as a friend - stand by my side this one last time.
  • [coldly interviewed about possibly having killed Apollo Creed during their fight] If he dies, he dies.
  • [To Rocky before their fight] I must break you.
  • [To Sergei Rimsky, before the third round against Rocky, in Russian] He's not human... He's like a piece of iron.
  • [To Rocky before their Final Round] To the end.
