Trivia about The Paramedic

Mario Casas went through another physical transformation for the role, having lost 22 kilos in four months for The Photographer of Mauthausen.

Actress Déborah François, who returns as Vane, had already won the César Award for Most Promising Actress in 2009 for The First Day of the Rest of Your Life.

Déborah François also starred in The Kid, winner of the Palme d'Or and directed by brothers Jean-Pierre and Luc Dardenne.

To prepare for the role, Mario Casas visited the National Center for Paraplegics in Toledo and the Institut Guttmann in Barcelona; Mario Roque, a patient at the Barcelona center, also helped him during the shoot.

The project already had Mario Casas attached as the lead and a fairly advanced script when Netflix came on board as a producer.

Guillermo Pfening had to undergo technical training and first aid courses inside an ambulance to play his role.

The film was shot between September and October 2019 in Barcelona, L'Hospitalet de Llobregat, Badalona, and Lleida.

Mario Casas consulted a psychiatrist familiar with people with psychopathic traits to build the character psychologically.
