Justice is swift. Revenge is deadly.

After ten years behind bars, the Driver (Dwayne Johnson) is released with one goal. He wants to avenge the death of his brother Gary, who was killed in the same bungled bank robbery that sent him to prison. Before setting out, he recovers a gun and a list of names, and he intends to carry out the list point by point. But the plan quickly gets complicated. Veteran police officer Cicero (Billy Bob Thornton), just ten days from retirement, starts closing in on him. And he is not the only one, because someone has hired a hitman to kill the Driver before he completes his mission.

Trivia about Faster

The Driver's Chevrolet Chevelle combines the rear of a 1971 or 1972 model with the front of a 1970 one, according to the article about the film.

Critic Stephen Holden of The New York Times wrote that the film is as stiff as its star, with a narrative that stumbles and drops its twists like bricks.

Robert Koehler of Variety said Johnson cannot show his usual charm and plays a pure, dead-end machine of revenge.

In addition to Clint Mansell's score, the film uses "En mi viejo San Juan," a song written by Noel Epinanio Estrada Suárez and performed by Mexican singer Javier Solís.

Salma Hayek was briefly cast, but withdrew one week before filming over "scheduling issues" and was replaced by Carla Gugino.

After its home video release on March 1, 2011, the film earned 17.3 million dollars from DVD and Blu-ray sales in the United States alone.

Although the story takes place over five days, costume designer Salvador Pérez Jr. bought thirty identical outfits so that Dwayne Johnson could play the Driver.

The film was shot on a budget of 24 million dollars, and its action scenes sometimes had to be filmed in just one or two days.
