Synopsis of Fullmetal Alchemist

Edward and Alphonse Elric are two brothers living with the consequences of a failed attempt to bring their mother back to life through alchemy. Edward has lost a leg, and Alphonse has lost his entire body, so his soul remains sealed inside a suit of armor. Edward decides to join the military in search of a way to recover their bodies, and his main goal is to find the Philosopher's Stone. Produced by Bones, the series airs on MBS and TBS and is based on Hiromu Arakawa's manga, though it departs from the original story from the start. Romi Park voices Edward in the Japanese version.

Trivia about Fullmetal Alchemist

Bones president Masahiko Minami decided to create the adaptation after a proposal from several studio members, including Yoshiyuki Ito.
Arakawa asked the studio for an original ending, different from the manga's, which was still being serialized. She didn't want to repeat the same ending in both media.
In 2005, TV Asahi ran an online poll on the top 100 anime, and Fullmetal Alchemist came in first place there and 20th in the nationwide survey.
The series won the most awards at the 26th Anime Grand Prix, including Best Title and Best Voice Actor for Romi Park.
The song "Brothers," sung in Russian, became the signature song of the 2003 series because it wasn't used in Brotherhood.
The music was composed and arranged by Michiru Ōshima and recorded at Mosfilm Studios with the Moscow Symphony Orchestra in Russia.
In October 2023, the series was not available on legal streaming platforms, according to the information listed in its profile.
The series received five awards at the 2007 American Anime Awards, including Best Long Series, Best Cast and Best Actor for Vic Mignogna for his dub of Edward Elric.
