Synopsis of La unidad

Carla Torres leads an antiterrorist unit of the General Information Police Headquarters of the Spanish National Police, dedicated to tracking jihadist cells planning attacks in Spain. Together with her team, the series follows investigations across Spain, France and Morocco. Her biggest success comes when she manages to arrest Salah Al Garheeb, the most wanted terrorist in the world. But the leader's capture does not stop the threat: his followers, led by his son, target Spain, and the team must get ahead of the danger before terror reaches the streets. Starring Nathalie Poza, Michel Noher and Marian Álvarez, the series airs on Movistar+ and was created by Dani de la Torre and Alberto Marini.

Trivia about La unidad

The series had one of the highest budgets at Movistar+, similar to that of the first season of La peste, at about €10 million.

Although some scenes were shot in Nigeria, France and Tangier, about 85% of the filming took place in Galicia.

A highly complex terrorist attack scene was shot on Callao, Preciados and Sol streets in Madrid.

The series was renewed for a second season after its strong initial ratings, and the success of that second run led to a third season, titled "Kabul."

Another honor: the series was nominated for the Iris Award for Best Fiction in 2022, the year of its second season.

Filming of "La unidad: Kabul" lasted ten weeks and brought together 300 actors and crew members, including about 130 actors and extras and 40 stunt performers, among them 28 horse riders.

Total viewership for the second season was 12% higher than for the first, according to ratings data published by Movistar Plus+.
