The Unit

A top-secret unit of the U.S. Army operates in Los Angeles under the cover of "Logistics Studies Group 303." Its members are drawn from a selection of the army's best soldiers and are among the most highly specialized in the world. The unit is divided into groups, such as Alpha Group, which features the main characters, and each one is commanded by a sergeant. Its highest-ranking officer is Colonel Thomas Ryan, who takes orders directly from the President of the United States, while the Department of Defense barely knows it exists. The series, created by David Mamet and broadcast on CBS, follows these soldiers through their training and missions, and also their families, who live on the sidelines of what they do. The cast is headed by Dennis Haysbert.
