Synopsis of La Femme Nikita

Nikita is a young woman sentenced to death for a crime she did not commit. When her execution seems inevitable, she is rescued by Section One, a secret government organization that operates in the shadows. The group fights terrorism with highly scientific methods and cutting-edge computer systems, presenting itself as the most secret counterterrorism unit in the world. Its methods, however, are ruthless: it routinely resorts to kidnapping, torture and murder, even against its own members. The series was created by Joel Surnow and airs on USA Network. Peta Wilson plays Nikita, and the conflict arises from the gap between the orders she receives and her own compassion.

Trivia about La Femme Nikita

The series was the highest-rated drama on basic cable according to Nielsen during its first two seasons, a fact the network was quick to highlight.

The Save LFN campaign drew more than 25,000 letters sent to USA Network and Warner Bros., ranging from dollar bills featuring Roy Dupuis's face to sunglasses.

Following the fan campaign, Stephen Chao announced in September 2000 that the series would return with a shortened fifth season of eight new episodes.

The official soundtrack, released in June 1998, features the main theme by Mark Snow and songs by Depeche Mode and Afro Celt Sound System.

During season three, Stephen Chao asked that the key terrorist roles be played by wrestlers, as a cross-promotion with World Wrestling Entertainment.

The original cancellation in 2000 was linked to a contract dispute: Peta Wilson received an offer to play Jean Grey in "X-Men" and asked to leave early, but the producers refused and she did not renew her contract.

The series won four awards and received 21 nominations in total, according to the IMDb record, although the search does not provide verifiable details for each award.
