Synopsis of Old Dog, New Tricks

Antón is a grumpy, broke rural veterinarian from Galicia who is losing his countryside clients. With no other way out, he agrees to work at a pet boutique run by his niece, Uxía, which sells luxury products for animals. Used to caring for farm animals, he will have to learn to sell accessories and indulgences to owners who spoil their dogs like children. The series follows his clash with this new reality while he tries to hold on to his character and his trade. Created by Víctor García León for Netflix, it stars Luis Zahera and Lucía Caraballo.

Trivia about Old Dog, New Tricks

To get a Galician accent for her role, Lucía Caraballo trained with Federico Pérez Rey.

Filming locations in Galicia include Dioño, A Calle, Pontemaceira, Teo, Vedra and Santiago de Compostela.

The series was announced in January 2024 under the title Animal salvaje, which was later simplified to simply Animal.

Netflix renewed the series for a second season after its success just three weeks following its release.

Netflix announced that Álvaro Mel has joined the cast as Mike and confirmed that the second and third seasons of "Animal" were filmed simultaneously.

"Animal" was nominated for the International Emmy 2026 in the Best Comedy Series category.

After its premiere, the series hit No. 1 in Spain and topped the Netflix charts in Argentina and Uruguay, also making it into the global top 10 non-English-language series.
