Synopsis of Ms. Marvel

Kamala Khan is a 16-year-old Pakistani-American student who lives in Jersey City. She is a fan of the Avengers, especially Carol Danvers, aka Captain Marvel, and writes superhero fan fiction. However, she struggles to fit in both at home and at school, where the expectations of her family and classmates weigh on her. Her desire is to feel part of something, and that search leads her to a transformation. Jersey City is the everyday setting of her life, from school to the mosque and the family home. The series, created by Bisha K. Ali and airing on Disney+, follows a teenager who wants to be like her heroes until she gains powers of her own.

Trivia about Ms. Marvel

Bisha K. Ali turned down an extension to keep working on Loki while preparing the pitch for Ms. Marvel that she brought to Marvel Studios.

Her aunt sent her the casting call, and Iman Vellani first recorded a self-tape before going to the Marvel Studios offices in Los Angeles.

Thailand stands in for Pakistan in the series, because the crew could not shoot in that country due to its political situation, although some shots were filmed in Karachi.

Brie Larson uncredited appears as Carol Danvers / Captain Marvel in the mid-credits scene of the season finale.

Arian Moayed reprises his role as P. Cleary, a DODC agent he had already played in Spider-Man: No Way Home.

Composer Laura Karpman worked on the score for five months, from February to July 2022.

Ms. Marvel earned a 98% approval rating from critics on Rotten Tomatoes, the highest score to date for a live-action Marvel Studios production, although its viewership was lower than other Disney+ series from the studio.

Director of photography Jules O’Loughlin stated in 2026 that he had not received any news about a second season and that the known plans for Kamala Khan focused on her film appearances.
