Synopsis of Batman Beyond

In Neo-Gotham, a cyberpunk metropolis in the near future, Bruce Wayne is an elderly man who has retired from the superhero business. He lives alone at Wayne Manor, with only his Great Dane, Ace, for company. One night, teenager Terry McGinnis runs from a group of thugs and ends up in the manor's garden. Together, they fight off the attackers, and then Terry looks after Bruce, who isn't feeling well. Bruce can no longer patrol, so he decides to entrust the cape to Terry and help him from a distance, guiding him over the radio as the young man faces a city full of criminals who are growing more dangerous, some of them new supervillains.

Trivia about Batman Beyond

The series was nominated for four Daytime Emmy Awards and won two of them in 2001, in the categories "Outstanding Animated Program" and "Outstanding Directing and Music Composition".

Batman Beyond had a spin-off, The Zeta Project, in which the android Zeta appeared with a more humanoid look.

Designed as a Batman series for children, it ended up darker than its predecessor, Batman: The Animated Series.

In 2009, IGN.com named Batman Beyond one of the 40 greatest animated TV series of all time.

This Batman's story takes place on Earth 12, one of the 52 Earths that make up the DC Multiverse, and could be a possible future for the original Earth.

Will Friedle won the role of Terry McGinnis after about 250 auditions and a final screen test with Kevin Conroy, whose father-son chemistry convinced the casting team.

The WB canceled the series after three seasons because its ratings did not reach the numbers executives had projected when pitching it to advertisers.

The live-action movie Batman Beyond, announced with Boaz Yakin as director and Michael Keaton as Bruce Wayne, was scrapped in January 2023.
