Synopsis of Yuri!!! on Ice

Yuri Katsuki, a 23-year-old Japanese figure skater, suffers a crushing defeat in the Grand Prix final and decides to take a break from his career. He returns to Hasetsu, his hometown in Kyushu, where he visits his childhood friend Yuko at the local rink. There he flawlessly copies a highly difficult routine by his idol, Russian champion Victor Nikiforov. Yuko's daughters secretly film the scene, and the video spreads online. Upon learning of this, Yuri Plisetsky, a fifteen-year-old Russian prodigy, travels to Hasetsu to demand that Victor keep an earlier promise. Created by Sayo Yamamoto with scripts by Mitsurō Kubo, the series airs on TV Asahi, and its central conflict revolves around whether Yuri Katsuki will compete again with Victor as his coach.
