Chloe Coleman didn't need a transition phase between TV commercials and the Hollywood big leagues. At five years old, she was already in front of the cameras in an episode of Glee that aired in 2013. But her real trial by fire came when Jean-Marc Vallée chose her to join the cast of Big Little Lies.
There, she learned to observe.
In 2017, she played Skye Carlson. Sharing a set with actresses of the caliber of Nicole Kidman or Reese Witherspoon at that age is an intensive course that others take decades to complete. So by the time filming wrapped, she already handled work schedules like a veteran.
In 2020, she starred in My Spy alongside Dave Bautista. The chemistry between a ten-year-old girl and a former WWE wrestler worked so well that the industry stopped seeing her as a high-priced supporting actress. Studios realized her name could carry a 18 million dollar production without a second thought.
The box office responded immediately.
In 2022, she took part in Avatar: The Way of Water under the direction of James Cameron. That shoot required years of motion capture and a level of technical demand that would have exhausted any adult. But Coleman balanced that process with wildly different projects to keep up the pace.
In Marry Me (2022), she played the daughter of Owen Wilson. That same year, it became clear that her profile fit the plans of casting directors looking for faces capable of carrying the weight of a complex story. She wasn't just a girl in the frame; she was an engine for the story.
And the pace didn't let up.
2023 was the year she firmly entered large-scale genre films. She appeared in 65 with Adam Driver and in Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves. In the latter film, she showed she could handle dry humor and physical action without her character looking like a mere decoration in the script.
In 2024, she starred in the sequel to her hit with Bautista, titled My Spy The Eternal City. The original contract for this production included a profit-sharing clause that very few actors her age manage to negotiate in the industry. The production moved to locations in Italy to enhance the film's visual appeal.
The film 65 wrapped its theatrical run with a worldwide box office of 60 million dollars against an estimated production budget of 45 million.
