Elizabeth Gillies made her Broadway debut at just fifteen years old. It was in the musical 13, sharing the stage with an unknown Ariana Grande in 2008. That production defined a work method based on vocal discipline and a stage presence that intimidated the adults in the cast.
She is a hardworking professional.
In 2010, Nickelodeon called to cast her as Jade West in Victorious. She was not the kind-hearted lead the network usually promoted. But her character, full of sarcasm and a gothic style, ended up stealing the spotlight during the show's four seasons.
When her contract with the children's network ended in 2013, she looked for projects that would break away from that image of the perpetual teenager. She turned down similar offers to focus on roles with more dramatic weight or dark humor.
Denis Leary cast her in Sex & Drugs & Rock & Roll in 2015. She played the daughter of a washed-up rock star. Gillies recorded much of the original soundtrack, proving that her contralto voice was too powerful for commercial pop standards.
Her real breakthrough came in 2017. The CW network revived the classic Dynasty and gave her the role of Fallon Carrington. Over five years and 108 episodes, Gillies carried the weight of a production that demanded a frantic shooting pace and constant wardrobe changes.
Absolute control was her trademark.
In 2021, she made her directing debut with the episode A Public Forum for Her Lies. It was the first time she took on the technical reins of a series where she already worked as an executive producer. She directed two more episodes before the show ended in 2022.
After her television run ended in 2022, she diversified her career. She voiced Selina Kyle in the animated film Catwoman: Hunted that same year. In 2024, she starred in the comedy Spread alongside Harvey Keitel, playing an aspiring journalist at an adult-content magazine.
In February 2025, she returned to the New York stage to star in the musical Little Shop of Horrors. Her performance as Audrey ran until June of that year due to high ticket demand. Critics praised her ability to balance the character's vulnerability with flawless vocal technique.
The actress married composer Michael Corcoran in August 2020. The ceremony took place on a farm in New Jersey with only ten guests. The production budget for Dynasty in its final season exceeded two million dollars per episode.
