Directed by Shawn Levy and starring Ryan Reynolds, the film follows Guy, a bank teller who lives in Free City. He is a cheerful, lonely man, and almost nothing spoils his day. His routine unfolds between the branch counter and the city streets, with no sign that he aspires to anything different. One ordinary day, the bank becomes the scene of a robbery, and the robbers take him hostage. Guy, however, keeps smiling as if nothing had happened. Little by little, though, details that don't add up begin to surface: repeated reactions from the people around him and situations that feel out of the ordinary. Guy starts to wonder what is real in the world around him.

Don't have a good day, have a great day.
[Talking to Guy at his lowest] Hey, I'm here with my best friend, trying to help him through a tough time. If that ain't real, I don't know what is.
If you love Kentucky Fried Chicken, and I make Kentucky Fried Chicken, and I know that you love Kentucky Fried Chicken, why would I make another restaurant called, uh, I don't know, "Albuquerque Boiled Turkey"?
[Upon greeting Buddy] FRIENDLY GESTURE.
Sometimes I forget not everyone you meet on here is a sociopathic man-child.
