Just because someone is dead doesn't mean they're gone.

Dr. Miranda Grey is a criminal psychologist who works at Woodward, a women's correctional facility in the Connecticut countryside. One night, she is driving down a back road and swerves to avoid hitting a young woman who suddenly appears. When she wakes up, she finds herself locked in the same women's ward where she works, under the care of a colleague who treats her as a patient. Miranda remembers nothing about the accident or the hours before it, and all she wants is to find out what happened and get out of there. No one believes her. The film, directed by Mathieu Kassovitz, puts Halle Berry at the center of this fight to regain her credibility.

Trivia about Gothika

Filming of the scenes for Halle Berry was halted for several weeks in May 2003 after Robert Downey Jr. accidentally grabbed and twisted an arm, breaking it.
Berry accepted the role partly because her mother, a nurse, worked for decades at a psychiatric hospital.
Most of the film was shot at the abandoned St. Vincent-de-Paul Penitentiary in Laval, Quebec.
Limp Bizkit's version of "Behind Blue Eyes," originally by The Who, plays in the film but does not appear on the released soundtrack.
