Little Miss Sunshine

Sheryl Hoover is a mother of two who is worn out in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and struggles to keep up with the housework. Her husband, Richard, is trying to build a career as a motivational speaker, but his success seminars aren't working out. When Frank, Sheryl's brother, arrives at the house after a suicide attempt, the atmosphere grows even more tense. Frank is a Proust scholar who moves in with the family temporarily. Dwayne, Sheryl's teenage son, has taken a vow of silence until he achieves his dream of becoming a fighter pilot, and Grandpa Edwin doesn't hold back on the swearing. Olive, the youngest daughter, dreams of becoming a beauty queen. When she receives an invitation to the Little Miss Sunshine pageant in California, the whole family decides to accompany her in the old van.
