Napoleon Dynamite is a high school student who lives in Preston, Idaho, with his grandmother, Carlinda, and his older brother, Kip, who is obsessed with technology. At home, he also shares space with Tina, his pet llama. Napoleon, socially awkward, spends his days at school drawing mythological creatures, dealing with the bullies at the school, and playing tetherball alone in the schoolyard. What he wants is to fit in and survive a school year that feels like an uphill battle. Directed by Jared Hess, the film follows Napoleon, played by Jon Heder, who looks at the world around him with a mix of indifference and resignation. Kip spends hours in Internet chat rooms, and Grandma keeps her own routine, while the protagonist tries to find his place among his classmates.
