Synopsis of Eastbound & Down
Kenny Powers was a major league baseball pitcher, but his self-destructive temperament forced him into early retirement. Years after turning his back on his hometown, he returns to Shelby, North Carolina, to work as a substitute physical education teacher at the school he attended as a child. He wants to win back the fame he lost and, to that end, makes a comeback to competition. Along the way, he tries to fix many of the mistakes he made in the past, though his own actions keep sabotaging his efforts again and again. The series, created by Danny McBride, Jody Hill, and Ben Best, airs on HBO, and McBride plays the lead character.
«Every kid has a baseball player to look up to. Kenny Powers is not that guy.»
