The Minions have existed since the beginning of history. They are small yellow creatures who have always served the most despicable villains of each era, but their clumsiness ends up, without meaning to, destroying each of their masters. After a series of disasters, the group finds itself without a boss and sinks into despair. Isolated and adrift, the Minions now have no one to obey. One of them has an idea: to find a new master to serve, and for that the group will have to embark on a long journey. The film is directed by Pierre Coffin and Kyle Balda, and Coffin voices the Minions themselves.

Minion: [as a primitive caveman is about to hit a bear with a club] No, no, no! Piñata! [the Minions cheers as the primitive hits the bear with a fly swatter, then the bear eats him alive as the Minions screamed in terror]
[after seeing Herb's card, reading "I missed you! H."] Herb, seriously, I want to dig up that William Shakespeare so he can see what true writing is. I love it!
This is gonna be so FUN!
