Wilee is a bike messenger in New York who weaves daily between taxis, pedestrians and cars that leave him no room. He rides a fixed-gear bike with no gears or brakes, and he knows one lapse in concentration could send him crashing to the pavement. He has an urgent delivery to make in Manhattan, and the clock is against him. What seems like a routine job becomes complicated the moment a police officer crosses his path. Wilee must decide how much he's willing to risk to make it on time, while the city turns into an obstacle at every intersection and every traffic light.

Trivia about Premium Rush

David Koepp and John Kamps wanted elaborate chase scenes, in the style of William Friedkin movies, and they pushed for them from the screenplay onward.

Gordon-Levitt injured his arm during the shoot when he crashed into the rear of a taxi, and a photo of the aftermath appears in the end credits.

The film grossed 31.1 million dollars worldwide against a production budget of 35 million.

Joseph Gordon-Levitt clarified that he didn't perform all the stunts: the crew included a real bike messenger, a Hollywood stunt double and experts in trials and fixed-gear bikes.

The shoot took place on the streets of New York during an especially hot summer, with Gordon-Levitt riding a bike for full days at a time.

Dania Ramirez said she fell off the bike every day of the shoot and personally performed a scene in which she crossed the Hudson River.

The film won one award and received four nominations in total, although the sources consulted here don't detail the specific categories or awards.

In December 2012, a making-of documentary focusing on the stunt performers, the action, the New York shoot, the cinematography and the visual effects was released.

Quotes by Premium Rush

[To Nima] If you lose the ticket I cannot give you back the money. You understand? This ticket now is money... for whoever holds it. If you have problems you don't call the police. You call this number. The Hawala system settles its own problems.
