It's Christmas Eve in Grand Rapids, Michigan, and a boy begins to doubt that Santa Claus exists. The film simply calls him the Boy Hero. Outside his house stops the Polar Express, a magical train that carries children to the North Pole to meet Santa before he sets off in his sleigh to deliver presents around the world. The boy isn't sure whether to board, and to do so he needs a ticket that the Conductor hands out. Robert Zemeckis directs this motion-capture animated film. Tom Hanks plays six roles, including the Conductor, and leads a cast that also includes Daryl Sabara and Nona Gaye.

One thing about trains: it doesn't matter where they're going. What matters is deciding... to get on. [winks at Hero Boy]
