Synopsis of Tales from the Crypt

A corpse acts as host, the Crypt Keeper, introducing each episode of this horror anthology that aired on HBO. Each story adapts a tale published by EC Comics in the 1950s, and in all of them the characters face grim fates. The Keeper describes the most gruesome details of each story and mocks, with irony, anyone listening. Before each story, a rotting puppet appears that recreates the look of the host from the original comic panels. Created by William M. Gaines and Steven Dodd, the series launched in 1989 with the aim of reviving the horror genre. Each episode stands on its own, with new characters and settings.
