Synopsis of Codename: Kids Next Door

Five kids from very different backgrounds live in a high-tech treehouse in California and form Sector V of the Kids Next Door, a global espionage organization. Each one takes a codename, from Number 1 to Number 5, and their mission is to defend children's rights against the tyranny of adults and teenagers. To them, that oppression ranges from going to the dentist to eating vegetables instead of candy. Their operations force them to face their enemies head-on, and they do it with weapons built from household objects and with very different skills. The series, created by Tom Warburton for Cartoon Network, follows this group as they take their cause very seriously and refuse to accept any rules imposed by grown-ups.

Trivia about Codename: Kids Next Door

The idea grew out of another project. Warburton created a pilot, "Diseasy Does It," for Kenny and the Chimp, a series Hanna-Barbera was set to produce.
The working title was The Kids Next Door, but it changed after another network began developing a series called Pigs Next Door.
In 2005, it won the award for Best Animated Television Series for Kids at the Ottawa International Animation Festival, for the episode "Operation: A.R.C.H.I.V.E."
In December 2002, it averaged 635 000 kids aged 6 to 11 as viewers, a figure that rose to 1.2 million among those aged 2 to 11.
It was the most popular series produced by Curious Pictures, the studio that had previously worked on Sheep in the Big City for Cartoon Network.
In 2015, fans launched a Change.org petition asking for Galactic Kids Next Door to be picked up as a full series, and Warburton himself and Dee Bradley Baker signed it.
To produce the TV movie "Operation: Z.E.R.O.", Tom Warburton and Mo Willems needed about two months to write the script, compared with the usual two weeks for each episode. Its production was squeezed in between Season 5 and Season 6.
