Synopsis of Dare Me

Addy Hanlon and Beth Cassidy are best friends and part of the cheerleading squad at Sutton Grove High School, in a small town in the Midwestern United States. Their competitive everyday life changes when Colette French, a new coach, arrives and wants the team to make a name for itself and stand out above the rest. As the pressure builds, the friendship between the two girls begins to fall apart. Things get even more complicated when a shocking crime shakes the calm of this suburban world. Created by Megan Abbott, the series airs on USA Network and stars Herizen Guardiola and Marlo Kelly, with Willa Fitzgerald as the coach.

Trivia about Dare Me

Before making it to television, the novel was in development as a film, with Michael Sucsy set to direct, but the project never got off the ground.
The project started at HBO, but in January 2018 it moved to USA Network because the network was already producing Euphoria, another series about teenagers.
Although the series aired on USA Network, Netflix handled distribution in the rest of the world.
Filming for the first season was not limited to Toronto; it also took place in Mississauga, Scarborough, and Hamilton.
Alison Thornton started out as a recurring character and was promoted to series regular in the second episode of the first season.
The first episode was screened in June 2019 at the ATX Television Festival in Austin, Texas, months before its premiere.
To prepare for the series, the cast attended a cheerleading camp before filming began, in order to get familiar with the discipline they would be portraying on screen.
USA Network canceled the series on April 30, 2020, after one season, although its creators tried to offer it to other networks or streaming platforms.
