El Chavo del Ocho

An eight-year-old orphan known as El Chavo lives in a apartment building in Mexico City. His real name is never mentioned. Much of the action takes place in the shared courtyard, where the barrel and the washtub are, and he crosses paths with the other tenants there every day. Don Ramón, unemployed and months behind on rent, tries to avoid Mr. Barriga whenever he shows up at the building. Doña Florinda, proud and haughty, looks down on her neighbors, and Doña Clotilde, a single woman in apartment 71, sparks the curiosity of the children. Together with his friends Quico and La Chilindrina, El Chavo gets into trouble through misunderstandings, distractions and pranks. The series, created and starring Roberto Gómez Bolaños, airs on Las Estrellas. Each episode mixes gags, slapstick, irony and laugh track to highlight the comedic moments.
