Synopsis of Family Matters
Family Matters follows the Winslows, a middle-class Black family living in the suburbs of Chicago. Carl, a police sergeant, shares his home with his wife, Harriette, their children Eddie and Laura, and little Judy. The first episode begins when the family decides to open their home to Estelle, Carl's mother, whom everyone affectionately calls Mama Winslow. From that moment on, living with an older generation tests the household's routines and forces the adults to readjust their rules. The series was created by William Bickley and Michael Warren and aired on ABC. Reginald VelJohnson plays Carl in the main cast.
