Andrea Deck didn't wait for the industry to knock on her door in Michigan. She moved to London at eighteen to train at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art, because she quickly understood that the European market demanded a different technique. There, she learned that British discipline could coexist with American intuition.
London was the first big filter.
In 2013, she filmed The Lovers under the direction of Roland Joffé and shared the screen with Josh Hartnett. It was a year of nonstop activity, during which she also appeared in The Devil’s Violinist. On that shoot, she played Charlotte Watson and began to understand how large period productions worked on European soil.
But Deck didn't want to limit herself to being a face on screen. Her musical training allowed her to explore a field many actors neglect out of fear of the invisibility of the microphone. So she decided to dive fully into the video game and professional voice-over industry.
In 2014, she lent her voice and motion capture performance to play Amanda Ripley in Alien: Isolation. It was months of working inside recording booths, searching for the exact tone of distress and survival. That role earned her a cult status among the franchise's fans that still endures today.
Her voice ended up being her best weapon.
And the bet paid off. She repeated the experience in other big-budget titles such as Star Wars: Battlefront and Batman: Arkham Knight in 2015. Deck understood that modern acting doesn't only happen in front of a film camera, and that digital environments demand the same emotional weight as a Shakespeare drama.
Her work in British and American television truly defined her professional profile. In 2020, she played Jenna Bragg in the eighth season of Homeland. During that shoot, she had to handle dense dialogue about military intelligence and espionage in a highly demanding technical environment.
Before turning thirty, she co-founded Play It Again with a partner to have full control over the stories she wanted to tell. This London-based production company focuses on independent projects that pursue a refined aesthetic and less conventional narratives. Financial independence is her absolute priority in an industry that often punishes waiting.
In 2023, she appeared in the Netflix miniseries All the Light We Cannot See, playing Sandrina. The production was shot between Budapest and the French city of Saint-Malo under the direction of Shawn Levy. The crew used Sony Venice 2 cameras to capture the natural light of the historic locations.
Deck has had type 1 diabetes since she was fifteen and devotes part of her time to raising awareness about the condition. She doesn't approach it from a sentimental standpoint but from the practical management of health during grueling 14-hour shooting days. In 2024, she maintains her residence in London and oversees the development of three original scripts under her own company's label.
