Baghdad, 2003. Following the American invasion, Army officer Roy Miller, played by Matt Damon, is tasked with locating weapons of mass destruction that are supposedly hidden in various parts of the country. His team raids one hideout after another, each more dangerous than the last, but the findings don't match the reports they have received. Miller begins to doubt the information coming from his superiors. Directed by Paul Greengrass, the film follows a group of soldiers advancing through explosions and conflicting orders, with the constant sense that every step is taken blindly.

[to Lawrie Dayne] At least tell me how it happened. How does this happ... how does someone like you write something that's not true? Tell me.
[to Miller] It is not for you to decide what happens here.
Your government wanted to hear the lie Mr. Miller... they wanted Saddam out and they did exactly what they had to do... this is why you are here...
[to Poundstone] You cannot just hand this country over to an exile no one's ever heard of, and a bunch of interns from Washington.
