Max Cohen is a solitary, paranoid mathematician who lives in a rundown apartment in Chinatown, Manhattan. He believes everything in nature can be explained with numbers, but severe migraines and social anxiety isolate him from the world. His usual contacts are limited to Sol Robeson, his former mentor, who was left disabled after a stroke, and the building's neighbors, including Jenna, a girl fascinated by his calculations. Max works with his computer, Euclid, searching for a mathematical model that can explain the behavior of the stock market. He shuts himself in his apartment, programming and calculating tirelessly, convinced he is close to a discovery no one else has seen. The film marks the directorial debut of Darren Aronofsky, and Sean Gullette leads the cast.

Something's going on. It has to do with that number. There's an answer in that number.
There will be no order, only chaos.
The Torah is just a long string of numbers. Some say that it's a code sent to us from God.
It's survival of the fittest, Max, and we've got the fucking gun.
You see the simplicity of the circle. You see the maddening complexity of the endless string of numbers, 3.14 off into infinity.
Number? How many digits was it? 100? 1,000? 216?
