Synopsis of The Night Of
John Stone is a New York lawyer who agrees to defend Nasir Khan, a college student of Pakistani descent accused of killing a woman on the Upper West Side. The case is loaded with cultural and political nuances that complicate every decision the defense makes. On the police side, Detective Dennis Box leads the investigation, and prosecutor Helen Weiss pursues the charges. The series follows the inquiries, the legal proceedings and the workings of the criminal justice system, with a focus on Rikers Island prison, where defendants await trial on serious charges. Created by Steven Zaillian and Richard Price, it airs on HBO and stars Riz Ahmed and John Turturro.
