In early 21st-century London, subway construction work advances beneath the city. Quinn Abercromby, a twelve-year-old boy, accompanies his mother, the project's engineer. The workers break through into a cave no one expected to find, and from inside it emerges a dragon that has been asleep for centuries. The creature flies out from underground and breathes fire at those around it. Quinn must survive the chaos that erupts in the tunnel as the threat reaches the surface. Soon more dragons appear over the capital. Directed by Rob Bowman and starring Christian Bale and Matthew McConaughey, the film opens with that excavation and the first attacks.
